A Meet the Candidates Night, featuring candidates for the School Board, will be held Monday night at West Elementary School.

Five people are running for two seats on the board, including incumbents Gwendolyn Phillips and Mary Busse. Challengers include Rodney Montgomery, a former board member who lost his seat in last year’s elections, as well as Paul Hersee and Edmund Bedient.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room at the school, 1397 Orchard Park Road.

This week:

• Scott Dobe will present information about the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center at Wednesday’s breakfast meeting of Rotary Club of West Seneca, which begins at 7:45 a.m. at Alton’s Restaurant, 2221 Transit Road. • The opening reception for Art of the Haudenosaunee – People of the Longhouse, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road. The show, created by Native Roots Artists Guild, runs through May 31. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.

• Firemen’s Memorial Exhibit Center is sponsoring a food drive throughout May to benefit the West Seneca Food Pantry. Donations may be dropped off from 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays at the center, 4141 Seneca St. Boxed dinners, pasta, peanut butter and paper products are particularly needed.
