Letter: Officers indeed have the right to shoot first

Officers indeed have the right to shoot first

This is in response to the letter that stated officers should not shoot first. No police officer is trained to shoot someone in the back. Proper training is very important in becoming a police officer. What the writer fails to understand is under Article 35 of the New York State Penal Code, officers have the right to shoot first under certain circumstances. Remember, proper training is the key to any response made by the police.
