Slowly, slowly it’s coming. Saturday was a sunny preview and the forecast is for more beautiful spring weather for most of the first week of May.
Overnight lows may dip into the 40s once or twice, while daytime highs are on an upward trajectory: 60 on Sunday, 65 on Monday, a pause for a showers on Tuesday and then a high of 66 Wednesday and, on Thursday, 70 degrees.
“It will remain pretty nice through the weekend,” said meteorologist David Thomas of the National Weather Service in Buffalo. “We have a cold front moving in Monday night that will bring showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder. We should see more showers and it will be cloudy Tuesday in the daytime, with some improvement Tuesday evening.”
After that, he said, “There’s another nice stretch coming up.”
Looking ahead a week, Friday and Saturday look mostly sunny so far and that sunshine should take the daytime highs solidly into the low 70s.
“It’s a little early yet, but so far it looks like temperatures in the 70s and a very low chance for any precipitation Mother’s Day weekend,” Thomas said.
