Renovated Lackawanna veterans clinic sets ceremony Monday

The newly renovated Community Based Outpatient Clinic for veterans will celebrate its grand opening at 11 a.m. Monday at 1234 Abbott Road in Lackawanna. The 5,600-square-foot clinic will improve operations, efficiency and access to care for veterans, said Brian Stiller, director of VA Western New York Healthcare Systems.

“We want to ensure veterans have easy access to health care close to home,” said Stiller. With more specialty services offered through our ‘telehealth’ capabilities, veterans won’t have far to travel especially during inclement weather.

The clinic has been fully operational since March 9.

Enrollment opportunities for VA health care will also be made available at the event. Veterans are encouraged to bring their discharge papers and 2014 financial and tax information for benefits counseling.

Military veterans who served in combat since Nov. 11, 1998 are eligible to receive five years of enhanced enrollment eligibility for VA health care services.

Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the clinic at 821-7815.
