Buffalo, suburban Catholic churches to share pastor

Two inner-city Catholic churches will share a pastor with a suburban church in a team concept arrangement.

The Rev. Ronald P. Sajdak will become pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish on Harris Hill Road, Williamsville, while maintaining his position as pastor at St. Martin de Porres and St. Lawrence, both in Buffalo.

St. Martin de Porres and St. Lawrence have had sister parish relationships with Nativity. Parishioners from Nativity assisted in the food pantry at St. Lawrence, and Nativity and St. Martin held a joint concert with their choirs.

The change arose out of discussions over logistics and workload of the pastoral staff at the three parishes.

“This is an unusual and creative arrangement which has great potential,” Bishop Richard J. Malone said in a statement.
