LOCKPORT – Niagara County equine teams received top honors at the recent 2014 Inter-County Team Competition for 4-H members across Western New York held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County.

Teams are made up of five 4-H youth, which include two junior riders, two senior riders and a stable manager.

The four teams representing Niagara County were:

The Midnight Riders – Quinn Wilson, 16, of Pendleton (stable manager;) Alyssa Olaf, 17, of Gasport; Felicia Craft, 17, of Lockport; Taylor Porter, 13, of Newfane; and Emily Boldt, 13, of Batavia. The team placed first overall, first in the riding portion, third in the knowledge portion and first in stable management.

The Recruiters – Alexis Nadeau, 16, of Sanborn (stable manager;) Ivy Doknovitch, 19, of Newfane; Kendra Hockran, 17, of Chautauqua; Emma Johnson, 13, of Lockport; and Taylor Clark, 13, of Chautauqua. They placed second overall, second in the riding portion, fourth in the knowledge portion and fifth in stable management.

The Barnyard Dreamers – Selah Lowery, 15, of Ransomville (stable manager;) Ashley Weiser, 18, of Grand Island; Jessica Lobur, 19, of Akron; Madison Marchetti, 13, of Wilson; and Ashley Randall, 13, of Lockport. The Barnyard Dreamers team placed third overall, third in the riding portion, second in the knowledge portion, and second in stable management.

The Legends of the Fall – Elizabeth Coop, 17, of Lewiston (stable manager;) Kirsten Call, 17, of Lewiston; Serena Nichols, 15, of Niagara Falls; Maddie Moran, 12, of Ransomville; and Jesslyn Murphy, 11, of Ransomville. The Legends of the Fall team placed fifth over all, fourth in the riding portion, seventh in knowledge and sixth in the stable management.

Also honored at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County Year End Horse Awards ceremony were:

Niagara County 4-H Fair Hi-point horse and rider team – Morgan Brown, 17, of Barker; and Niagara County 4-H Fair Sportsman: Senior Felicia Craft, 17, of Lockport; junior Wes Hannon, 9, of Lewiston; and beginner Amber Meyer, 13 of Lockport

2014 Horseman of the Year honors were give to Alyssa Olaf, 17, of Barker and Emily DelSignore, 17, of Williamsville.
