In-N-Out Burger heads north for a day

In Buffalo, In-N-Out Burger has never been a part of the city's lexicon, and there are no concrete plans pointing to this longed-for announcement in the near or distant future.

But, according to Huffington Post Canada, the rabidly-popular fast-food chain will open a pop-up restaurant in Toronto for one day only. Yes, Western New Yorkers, that's an In-N-Out Burger just a reasonably short drive up the QEW -- a nice reprieve from having to haul cross-country to California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona or Texas.

If you're willing to make the two-hour trip north of the border, In-N-Out will set up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Osteria dei Ganzi, a cavernous restaurant in a mansion situated at 504 Jarvis St., Toronto (see the map at the bottom if you're really gung-ho about this news).

Bear in mind that, if In-N-Out's pop-up history is any indicator, arriving at 2:45 p.m. won't guarantee you a taste. For instance's, In-N-Out's one-day test run in New Zealand had to stop 45 minutes early because all the burgers had been devoured. (They might give you a small dish of their special sauce to lap up, but no promises).

The allure of In-N-Out Burger is simple -- the "heavenly" burgers and Animal-Style french fries -- but the quality of the organization runs much deeper. No, we're not here to report that an In-N-Out Burger is destined for Buffalo (or even Toronto, for that matter.) Several factors -- inherent to In-N-Out's business plan -- have purposely limited the fast-food chain's reach to ensure quality and control growth.

Still, if you want to make a late-week day-trip to Toronto, a taste of In-N-Out could be an exceptional excuse to travel.
