Wyoming County barn fire creates $103,000 in loss

WARSAW – A firefighter was hospitalized Wednesday for injuries suffered during the 4 and 1/2 hours while seven fire companies were working on a barn that was destroyed by fire at 3086 Route 246 in the Town of Perry.

The fire caused by a malfunctioning hay chopper was called in about 12:10 p.m. It destroyed the hay chopper and all the cow feed in the barn, according to Perry Center Fire Chief Mike Cook who oversaw the fire fighting operation.

The loss was estimated at $103,000.
