A 40-year-old Buffalo man was fatally stabbed during an argument with an acquaintance early this morning on Main Street, Buffalo police said. A suspect is in custody.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.

The altercation occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in the 800 block of Main near Edward Street, according to Michael J. DeGeorge, spokesman for the Buffalo Police Department.

Police said the two men were walking together down Main Street when they began arguing.

The victim was transported to Erie County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
