Edith Kiener, owned clothing shop

Edith M. “Eydie” Kiener, a Williamsville clothing shop owner, died Aug. 24 in her Cheektowaga home after a short illness. She was 71.

Mrs. Kiener operated the Second Performance Shoppe, a consignment store for women’s apparel. Located for many years on Main Street across from Williamsville South High School, she oversaw its move earlier this year to Wehrle Drive. It is operated by her daughter, Kyle.

Born in Buffalo, the former Edith Berger was a 1961 graduate of Lancaster Central High School. A single mother, she worked various jobs before purchasing the store in 1984.

She maintained a summer cabin in Franklinville. An animal lover, she supported the Cattaraugus County SPCA.

Her partner of 37 years, Gerald J. Heckman Jr., died Jan. 8.

Survivors include two daughters, Charris L. and Kyle; a son, Hans; a sister, Ardith Edenhofer; and five grandchildren.

An outdoor memorial service was held Aug. 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5337 Genesee St., Bowmansville.
