Man shot twice in Jamestown

A man was shot as he walked in an open area behind housing units in Jamestown Tuesday evening, police reported. The victim is in surgery this morning at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.

The shooting occurred at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday at the rear of Appleyard Terrace in the 600 block of East 2nd Street. Four shots were fired, and the victim was struck twice.

Investigators are working to locate the shooter and have recovered a pistol near the scene.
