Niagara Falls man shot in chest outside deli

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man was listed in serious condition today in the trauma unit of Erie County Memorial Medical Center after he was shot in the chest Monday night outside of a deli in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue.

Ralik J. Hamilton, 39, of Ninth Street was stabilized in the emergency room of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and then transported to ECMC just after 11 p.m. Monday.

A friend of Hamilton told police that just before 10:15 p.m. Monday he left him outside while he went into Sam’s Deli. He said as he left the store, he heard a loud bang and saw Hamilton fall to the ground. The friend said he picked Hamilton up and helped him to his vehicle, then drove him to the emergency room.

The shooting is being investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information about it is asked to contact police at 286-4711.
