Blue Jays call up seven Bisons

The Toronto Blue Jays made their roster moves official on Tuesday for the annual September call-ups.

Lefty pitcher Daniel Norris, lefty Sean Nolin and righty Kendall Graveman were recalled along with infielder Ryan Goins and outfielder Anthony Gose. Toronto also selected the contracts of catcher George Kottaras and outfielder Dalton Pompey.

The Blue Jays announced that infielder Dan Johnson and right-handed pitcher Brandon Morrow were activated off their Major League rehabilitation assignments with the Herd.

To make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Darin Mastroianni and infielder Matt Hague were designated for assignment. Toronto also released right-handed pitcher Neil Wagner, who had been on the Bisons’ DL since June 2 with right forearm tightness.

It’s the first promotion to the big leagues for Norris, Graveman and Pompey. Norris made four starts for the Herd and one relief appearance, going 3-1 with 38 strikeouts in 22∏ innings pitched. Graveman went 3-2 in six starts for the Bisons with a 1.88 ERA. Pompey hit in 10 of the 12 games he played for the Bisons, batting .358 as the Herd’s leadoff hitter.

Goins and Gose both spent time with the Blue Jays this season. Kottaras, a free agent signing in August, is a veteran of 309 major league games.

Mastroianni hit .267. Hague, an August claim off waivers, played in 13 games for the Bisons, hitting .377 and driving in 10 runs.
