William M. Kukoleca, of Lackawanna, retired superintendent of buildings and grounds for the Lackawanna School District, died Wednesday in Burlington, Vt., after a brief illness. He was 78.
Born in Lackawanna, he was a graduate of Lackawanna High School. He first worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp., then joined the staff of the Lackawanna schools. He retired in 2000 after 30 years with the district. He was a former member of the New York State Association for Superintendents of School Buildings and Grounds.
He also was former president of the Indian Rock Fish & Game Club in the Adirondacks.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Ann Baker; a son, William Jr.; three daughters, Colleen Schnell, Lynne Dlugosz and Camille Fratt; a brother, Donald; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3148 Abbott Road, Orchard Park.
