LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Board of Elections will be open extra hours this week to take applications for absentee ballots for the Sept. 9 primary election.

The board, which is normally open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, will stay open until 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and will have special Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to noon.

Voters who won’t be in the county on primary day may fill out their ballots on the spot or take them home and mail them later, but they must be postmarked by Sept. 8 in order to be counted.
