LOCKPORT – A man who was shot in the abdomen in Niagara Falls earlier this year appeared in Niagara County Court Friday to plead not guilty to an indictment accusing him of two house burglaries in the Falls.
Limping and holding his abdomen, Jermaine V. Lowe Sr., 23, of Niagara Avenue in Niagara Falls, was arraigned on two counts of second-degree burglary. He is accused of burglarizing a home on 18th Street on April 13, 2013, and a home on Monroe Avenue Jan. 11.
Lowe also is charged with petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief in the 18th Street case. Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said Lowe was connected to one of the burglaries by DNA evidence and the other by an eyewitness.
Lowe was shot at 11th Street and Ontario Avenue on June 4. Javon J. Ellison Sr., 25, of Hyde Park Boulevard, is under indictment in the case, charged with attempted second-degree murder and other counts. He has pleaded not guilty.
