NIAGARA FALLS – Mayor Paul Dyster, School Superintendent Cynthia Bianco, Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, and other local officials took part in a ceremony Thursday that marked the official opening of a new playground in Gill Creek Park at Packard Road and Niagara Street.

Half of the cost of the $91,000 project was supported by a block grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The other half was covered by a Niagara River Greenway Grant.

The playground, built by R.E. Woodson Inc., is a few blocks from Niagara Street Elementary School and is within walking distance of a dense residential area and a small local business district.
