LOCKPORT – Plastic ducks will race down the Erie Canal Saturday as part of a fundraiser for Camp Happiness of Niagara County.
Ducks are still on sale for $5 at area businesses, leading up to the race, starting at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Adam Street Bridge. The ducks also will be available at the scene.
It is the climax of a day of activities that will begin at 10 a.m., including food, live music and visits from Thomas the Tank Engine and Flora the Clown.
First prize in the duck race is a chest freezer from Murply Appliance and $200 worth of groceries from Niagara Produce of Lockport. Other prizes include a dinner and movie night for six people, a 32-inch high-definition TV, a $200 gas card and a $100 dinner and show package. There will be a drawing after the race for more than 40 other prizes.
Camp Happiness is a day camp for people with development and intellectural disabilities, held for a week every June at Camp Kenan on the shores of Lake Ontario by the Lockport Elks Lodge in cooperation with the Lockport Family YMCA and Opportunities Umlimited of Niagara.
