David R. LaForest, a senior territory business manager for Bristol Myers Squibb, died Tuesday in his South Buffalo home after a long illness. He was 55.
Born in Erie, Pa., he grew up in Pittsford. He attended Erie Community College South and earned a degree in business administration from Buffalo State College.
Mr. LaForest worked for Mapworks, a publishing company in Rochester, and in production at Westwood Pharmaceuticals, where he became the manufacturing safety coordinator. He joined Bristol Myers Squibb about 10 years ago in pharmaceutical sales.
He was a volunteer at the SPCA Serving Erie County and played in the intramural adult soccer league in Elma. He was taking lessons to become a single-engine airplane pilot.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, the former Cheryl D. Crehan; his parents, Ron and Mary Lee; a brother, William; and a sister, Sharon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 1885 South Park Ave.
