When disaster hits, will you be ready?
The state’s Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program plans to train 100,000 New Yorkers to provide assistance in their own homes and communities when disaster strikes.
“Severe weather events are becoming more frequent and extreme and to make sure that our communities are safe, we need more New Yorkers than ever to be prepared and trained to respond,” Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said.
Hamburg’s Office of Emergency Services is hosting the training class at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Hilbert College’s Swan Auditorium. Space is limited, and pre-registration is available at www.nyprepare.gov/aware-prepare/nysprepare/.
Training sessions will be led by the New York National Guard, with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, and the Offices of Emergency Management and Fire Prevention and Control.
