Where we live: City of Tonawanda

City of Tonawanda

Looking to get some name recognition for your company? The city is selling the naming rights to its all-weather pavilion in Niawanda Park.

City officials hope a branded name for the pavilion will help market it for rentals and also provide funds to be set aside for improvements. Since the pavilion opened in April 2013, expenses and revenue have been equal, Mayor Rick Davis said.

“The reservations for the Friday-Sunday time frame have been great,” Davis said in a release. “Where we’re lacking is the Monday-Thursday rentals. We hope with the increase in marketing that the naming rights would provide, we will be able to boost the weekday rentals while still keeping the strong weekend bookings.”

The company that wins naming rights will receive four morning rentals and one all-day rental during the year. Proposals are due by Sept. 19.

This week:

• Harmony Music, featuring John White and Mike Nierenberg, will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Clinton Park Gazebo.

• Buffalo Banjo Band performs at 7 p.m. today in the band shell in Niawanda Park.

• The Tonawanda School Board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard P. Fahmer Board Room, 100 Hinds St.
