The Erie County Bar Association has given its top rating to four judicial candidates in the Nov. 4 election.
Rated outstanding are four incumbents seeking re-election: State Supreme Court Justice Frederick J. Marshall, Buffalo Chief City Judge Thomas P. Amodeo, Buffalo City Judge Patrick M. Carney and Erie County Family Court Judge Margaret O. Szczur.
Marshall and 14 others are running for five State Supreme Court positions.
State Supreme Court Justice Donna M. Siwek, who is seeking re-election, is rated well-qualified along with these State Supreme Court candidates: Erie County Family Court Judge Kevin M. Carter, Eden Town Justice Michael G. Cooper, John J. DelMonte, Dennis P. Glascott, Jonathan G. Gorman, Buffalo City Judge E. Jeannette Ogden and Paul B. Wojtaszek.
The following State Supreme Court candidates are rated qualified: Buffalo City Judge Susan M. Eagan, Michael J. Flaherty Jr., Daniel J. Furlong, Buffalo City Judge Debra L. Givens, Alisa A. Lukasiewicz and Mary L. Slisz.
The City Court position of chief judge and two City Court judgeships are up for election. While Amodeo and Carney are rated outstanding, candidates Phillip Dabney Jr. and Mara McCabe are rated qualified, and candidates Joseph T. Jarzembek and Barbara Johnson-Lee are not recommended.
One Family Court judgeship is up for election.
