Two Buffalo men were arrested Friday morning after police say they led officers on a brief high-speed chase and were found with stolen scrap metal.
At about 5 a.m., Northwest District officers attempted to pull over a dark pickup truck at Bird and Parkdale avenues, according to a report. The truck fled west on Bird with no lights on, sped through numerous stop signs and went the wrong way on West Avenue before the occupants fled on foot on Dewitt Avenue.
The men were apprehended nearby and found in possession of scrap metals valued at more than $1,000, police said.
William H. Scott, no age given, of Delaware Avenue, and Louis C. Kelly, 55, of West Avenue, were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
