Tonawanda OKs transportation contracts for disabled students

The Tonawanda City School Board approved three contracts Tuesday night that would provide students with disabilities transportation to schools outside the district.

The district chose a combination of providers to achieve an annual savings of $150,000: Transpo Bus Services, $168,000; First Student, $37,332; and an intermunicipal agreement with the North Tonawanda District that will cost Tonawanda $35 to $48 per student, for an anticipated cost of $125,000. The latter arrangement is pending approval of the North Tonawanda School Board.
