A taste of Buffalo is coming to Ralph Wilson Stadium, finally.
Finally you’ll be able to buy a Tim Hortons doughnut or some La Nova pizza to help absorb some of the beer you consume in the parking lot before a Bills game.
And finally you will be able to enjoy some Duff’s wings, albeit the boneless kind that won’t leave potential projectiles in their wake.
And it’s all because the stadium’s $130 million renovation includes a radical overhaul of the Ralph’s concessions operations, which means several of those trademark Buffalo food outlets will be scattered around the stadium.
It’s a far cry from the old Ralph.
“You know, until two or three years ago, you couldn’t even get a chicken wing here,” said Marc Honan, chief marketing officer for the Bills. “It’s just amazing.”
The Bills have been working to correct that long-time lapse, though, and the stadium’s modernized concessions operation made it possible to offer much more local fare.
The stadium features four huge new concessions areas behind the concourses on the 300 level, a new Coors Light Sports Bar with concessions in the east end zone and other new concessions stands recessed from the concourses.
What’s more, the main concessions stands will have eight points of sale, up from five, and all of them are designed to handle speedy credit card transactions.
Honan said the focus on local culinary favorites is in keeping with the rest of the stadium’s renovation.
“A big part of the renovation was really designed by the fans, through the research and surveys we’ve done,” Honan said. “We’re giving them what they asked for.”
