Man who broke into motel has chance to impress judge

LOCKPORT – Adam C. Strobele, who broke into the Lockport Inn & Suites Aug. 16, 2013, has been given six months to convince Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas not to send him to jail.

Strobele, 18, of Beattie Avenue, Lockport, was placed on six months’ interim probation Thursday. He pleaded guilty in May to reduced charges of second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incident at the South Transit Street motel.

Strobele did not impress Farkas when he told a probation officer in a presentencing interview that the motel owner did the damage, not him. Farkas said Strobele also was kicked out of a drug treatment program for not showing up.

However, Assistant Public Defender Charles F. Pittaresi said Strobele has a full-time job at an auto repair shop.

“He’s employable. He’s savable,” Pitarresi argued.
