Knife-wielding bandit robs Jamestown convenience store

JAMESTOWN – A man armed with a long knife stole cash and cigarettes from a convenience store during a robbery early Sunday, Jamestown police reported.

The man entered the 7-Eleven at 340 Allen St. shortly before 1 a.m. wearing a black ski mask and ordered the cashier to open the register, police said. The bandit took cash from the drawer and locked the employee, who was not hurt, in a back room, police said. The robber also took cigarettes before fleeing.

Police described the bandit as a young Hispanic male, about 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, who spoke broken English, wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark pants andn dark-colored shoes with a white design, trim and soles.
