A Buffalo man faces a mandatory 15-year minimum prison sentence after pleading guilty Wednesday to a federal gun charge.

Alexy Diaz, 31, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to possession of a firearm by an armed career criminal.

Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser said the defendant, who had previously been convicted of three violent felony or serious drug offenses, possessed a firearm in 2011 at 1160 Kensington Ave.

His plea is the result of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
