A 40-year-old Niagara Falls man is fighting for his life after being struck by a hit-and-run car believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed on Bailey Avenue near Roosevelt Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, was crossing Bailey when struck by the maroon vehicle with yellow New York State license plates. He suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Lt. Thomas J. Leatherbarrow, Accident Investigation Unit commander, said the car likely has front-end damage on the driver’s side. A City of Buffalo surveillance camera captured images of the car and victim just before impact, according Buffalo Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.
