Local Chamber of Commerce executives Deborah Leigl and Gary Grote are taking over as co-chairs of the Western New York Chamber Alliance, a group that represents 17 local Chambers across an eight-county region. Grote, the president of the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce, and Leigl, the president of the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce, will take over for one of the alliance’s founders and its current chairwoman, Colleen DiPirro, who also is president of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce.
Radio Ink magazine named Heidi Raphael, vice president of corporate communication at Greater Media, one of the 2014 “Most Influential Women in Radio” for the eighth consecutive year. In addition to serving as a member of the board of trustees at Medaille College and governing board of Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Raphael volunteers as vice president of the board of directors on behalf of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association and the Buffalo History Museum. Read to Succeed Buffalo appointed Jack Quinn chairman of the organization’s board of directors. Quinn, the president of Erie Community College, will serve a two-year term as chairman. Also, the organization named Frederick G. Attea, a partner with Phillips Lytle, to its board of directors for a three-year term.

M&T Bank Charitable Foundation presented a $5,000 grant to Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled or Disadvantaged of Western New York to support its Elder Abuse program. According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, 1,600 cases of elder abuse were reported last year, with the perpetrator being the caretaker in a majority of instances.
