The Amherst Senior Citizens Foundation elected Charles Kopp chairman for 2014-15. Kopp, past managing director of Community Bank’s Wealth Management Services, has served as the president of the foundation board for the past two years. Other officers: vice chairman, D. Jeffery Buckley; treasurer, Randall Spivack; and secretary, Ruth Ann Barone.


J. Adams and Associates, a Buffalo law firm, recently named Thomas Panasci to the firm. Panasci has more than five years’ practice in matrimonial and family law. He was awarded his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law.


Dr. Mimi Steadman, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness at Daemen College, is one of 32 mid-level administrators in higher education nationwide selected by the Council of Independent Colleges to participate in a year-long Senior Leadership Academy.

Daemen College was named to the Chronicle of Higher Education’s 2014 Honor Roll as a “Great College to Work For.” The results, released in the Chronicle’s seventh annual report on the Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 43,000 employees at 278 colleges and universities across the nation.


The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets, two family-owned businesses that operate side-by-side, will move to a larger location at 1547 Hertel Ave. in early August. They currently operate in the Horsefeathers Building at 346 Connecticut St.


The First Niagara Foundation is providing a $10,000 grant to Housing Opportunities Made Equal, a fair-housing organization, to fund its programs. HOME ensures people have equal opportunities to live in the housing and communities of their choice through education, advocacy, the enforcement of fair housing laws and the creation of housing opportunities.
