Elbert E. Schuster, of Orchard Park, a decorated Army veteran and retired National Fuel general foreman, died Monday in Mercy Hospital. He was 86.

Born in Lancaster, Mr. Schuster served as a sergeant first class from 1946 to 1948 in Japan and 1950 to 1951 in Korea.

For his bravery during the Korean War, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.

After his military service, Mr. Schuster worked for National Fuel until he retired as general foreman.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Esther E. Kray; a son, David; a daughter, Diane Scherer; a sister, Geraldine Sakowski; and a grandson.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery, 4443 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.
