Firefighters to collect for charity

Buffalo firefighters will be stationed at several street corners in the city from 7 to 9:30 a.m. today asking motorists and passersby to fill their boots with donations for research into spinal muscular atrophy and other neuromuscular diseases.

Donations will be taken at Main Street and Bailey Avenue; Seneca Street and Bailey Avenue; the foot of the Skyway in downtown Buffalo; Niagara and Maryland streets; Delaware and Hertel avenues; Elm and Swan streets; and Oak and Genesee streets.

Members of Local 282, Buffalo Professional Firefighters Association, will be joined by the mascots Buster Bison and Sabretooth, Buffalo Sabres alumni, the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research Team, and families and friends of those with SMA.
