Clydesdales to visit WNY

Catch the Budweiser Clydesdales when they visit the area next month with a full schedule of appearances including Erie County Fair, Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel, Coca Cola Field and Goat Island Parade.

The iconic horses made their first appearance on behalf of Anheuser-Busch on April 7, 1933, when they delivered a case of Budweiser to the White House in celebration of the repeal of prohibition of beer. The Clydesdale is a breed of draught horse derived from the farm horses of

Clydesdale, Scotland, and named after that region.

To celebrate their 81st anniversary with Anheuser-Busch this year, the Clydesdales will make appearances at multiple community events:

-- noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 6/Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel, 777 Seneca Allegany Blvd., Salamanca.

-- 4 p.m. Aug. 7 through Aug. 12 and Aug. 16, 17/5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg.

-- 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 13/Goat Island parade, Niagara Falls.

-- 1:05 p.m. Aug. 15/Buffalo Bison baseball game, Coca Cola Field, 275 Washington St.
