Buffalo man robbed in his home

A Buffalo man was jumped at his home and robbed of his gun collection Tuesday afternoon on the first block of Metcalfe Street.

Michael Kuczka opened the front door of his house and was jumped by two men in their early 20s. They forced Kuczka into the upper apartment and handed him a note reading, “open the safe.”

They took various items from him in addition to seven firearms: a Mossberg 500 shotgun, a 12-gauge double-barrel “coachman” shotgun, a Mossberg 9300 semi-automatic shotgun, a Marlin lever action .22 caliber rifle, a 12-gauge single-barrel shotgun, a Ruger double-barrel shotgun and a World War I era rifle.

The thieves struck Kuczka in his face, causing bruising and swelling. Police believe they fled in a blue, mid-’90s Honda Civic.
