A resident of Jamaica was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to time already served in jail.

Christopher Brown, 30, had previously been convicted of making a false statement in connection with a U.S. passport application.

Assistant U.S. Attorney MaryEllen Kresse said Brown submitted a passport application in 2012 that falsely claimed his name was Torey Khalif Murray and that he was born in Brooklyn.

Kresse said an investigation by the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service found his real name was Christopher Brown and that he was born in Jamaica.
