CONCERT SERIES: The Valley Community Association will host its Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series from 6:30 to 10:30 today at Buffalo River Fest Park, 249 Ohio St. Featured will be the local band Crash Cadillac. Admission is free, and food and refreshments will be sold at the concert, with all proceeds supporting Buffalo River Fest Park maintenance and other riverfront development. No coolers allowed. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. Parking is free and available at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino parking ramp and surrounding side streets.

MOVIES IN THE MEADOW: The Parkside Community Association will present “Frederick Law Olmsted: Designing America and Olmsted’s Enduring Legacy” as its 2014 Movies in the Meadow series opener at 8:30 p.m. Friday in front of the Parkside Lodge in Delaware Park, near the intersection of Parkside and Florence avenues. Bring a picnic blanket and cooler and lawn chairs to enjoy the screening. ANIMAL RESCUE: Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will be on hand with adoptable dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Budwey’s Supermarket, 535 Division St., North Tonawanda. DRIVER’S INSURANCE WORKSHOP: A six-hour workshop that helps drivers reduce the number of violation points on their licenses or lower the cost of their automobile insurance for three years will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Erie Community College South, Building 3, S4041 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park.
