Woman rescued after fall from Niagara River gorge

A woman who fell 20 feet down from the edge the Niagara River gorge while hiking was rescued today by Niagara Parks Police Service members and other Niagara Falls, Ont. emergency workers, according to the Parks Police Service.

The 39-year-old female from the region was hiking on the marked trails when she fell from the edge, approximately 20 feet down the embankment. Around 11:45 a.m., the Niagara Parks Police Service High Angle River Team, Niagara Falls Fire Department and Niagara EMS responded to a personal injury call at the Niagara River gorge below the glen.

The Davit Arm helped bring the woman back to street-level, and from there, an ambulence transported her to a hospital. The Niagara Parks Police Service said they believe her injuries are not life-threatening.
