Flash fall to Boston

Sitting four points out of a playoff spot with five games left in the season heading into the game, the Flash dropped a 4-2 contest to the last place Boston Breakers.

The Flash, currently in sixth place, now have four games left to make up a four-point difference with fourth-place Washington.

The Flash opened the scoring in the 14th minute as Carli Lloyd fed Jasmyne Spencer a pass which Spencer headed in. The Breakers then scored three unanswered goals in the first half as Lianne Sanderson (27th minute), Heather O’Reilly (30’) and Jazmine Reeves (39’) all put one away to give Boston a 3-1 lead heading into the second half.

Lloyd closed the game a tad for the Flash with a goal on a feed from Haley Palmer in the 54th minute.

However, O’Reilly sealed the game for the Breakers with her second goal of the game in the 86th minute.

The Flash next take the field at Sky Blue FC Thursday at 7 p.m.
