Vulcan Street, between Kenmore Avenue and Tonawanda Street, at the Buffalo-Town of Tonawanda border, has been reopened to traffic after being closed for nearly two hours this morning because of a natural gas line leak, authorities said.

A construction crew cut into the line shortly after 10 a.m. and, as a precaution, area residents and businesses were briefly evacuated along that stretch of Vulcan, according to Town of Tonawanda Police Capt. Joseph F. Carosi.

The street was reopened shortly before noon.

Town volunteer fire companies responded to the scene.
