Tapecon Inc., a contract manufacturing company focused on single-use medical diagnostics, printed electronics, custom converted functional parts and durable printing, promoted Ian Wood to national account representative. He earned a bachelor’s degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and a master’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.


Vein Treatment Centers physician assistant Christopher Morton recently returned from a humanitarian mission to the Dominican Republic. Along with the Daemen College Students Without Borders program, Morton helped treat 400 Dominicans in a medical care clinic. He participated with a scholarship provided by Dr. Hratch L. Karamanoukian, president of the Vein Treatment Centers and trustee of Daemen.

The law firm was recognized for a transaction that included the restructuring and sale of controlling interest of an oil and natural gas pipeline construction company.


Luminus Media will conduct a search for “Buffalo’s Worst Website,” resulting in the winner receiving a new website courtesy of the Buffalo firm. Ten finalists will be chosen by the firm’s expert team, and the public will vote using the Luminus Media Facebook page. Contestants can enter by visiting www.buffalosworstwebsite.com. Submissions are due by Aug. 1; Facebook voting by the public will follow until Aug. 29; and the winner will be announced Sept. 5.


Brothers of Mercy and Hospice Buffalo partnered to open Hospice Buffalo Mercy Care recently at the Brothers of Mercy campus in Clarence. The facility consists of 10 private and semi-private rooms that provide a nurturing, homelike environment for both hospice-eligible residents and families.


The General Motors Foundation announced grants totaling $60,000 to seven local organizations: American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Club of the Northtowns, Buffalo Urban League, Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative, Family Help Center, Food Bank of Western New York and United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.
