Loretta del Valle, retired HSBC Bank supervisor

Loretta del Valle, of Hamburg, a retired supervisor at HSBC Bank, died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital after a battle with metastatic lung cancer. She was 65.

Born Loretta DiPronio in Lackawanna, she was a teacher’s aide for several years at Roosevelt Elementary School in Lackawanna before beginning a 30-year banking career with Marine Midland Bank and HSBC Bank.

She retired in 2010 as supervisor in the HSBC Accounts Reconciliation Department.

Mrs. Del Valle was active in St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Lackawanna, serving as a Eucharistic minister and a member of the financial committee.

A 12-year survivor of breast cancer before she was diagnosed with lung cancer, she was a strong advocate and supporter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Survivors include her husband, Jose; three brothers, Louis DiPronio, Richard DiPronio and Angelo DiPronio; and two sisters, Anna Reeves and Mary Geyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 306 Ingham Ave., Lackawanna.
