So what exactly is a “Kerfuffle”? A fluffy dust-up between Muppets? No, it is a one-day waterfront music festival featuring internationally renowned alt rock acts Cage the Elephant and the Crystal Method, scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. Saturday at Canalside. Brought downtown by 107.7 Alternate Buffalo, the day plans to be the most concentrated collection of tight-jeaned talent to find cobblestone this summer.
Cage and Crystal are arguably the most recognizable names on the marquee, but don’t forget about Brooklyn’s Bear Hands, whose second album (“Distraction”) has unleashed pulsating synth-and-guitar singles like “Giant.” And don’t overlook the brothers-led Kongos, who have introduced listeners to their open-minded, multi-instrumental approach on accordion-aided tribal marchers like “Come With Me Now.”
That quartet of performers will team with killer B’s Big Data, Bleachers and Brick and Mortar – along with Semi Precious Weapons and Artvoice Boom Competition winner Folkfaces – for your typical picturesque afternoon along the Buffalo River, albeit a much, much louder one.
Tickets are $25 and available at Record Theater or ticketfly.com.
