Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus start-up companies can apply for up to $10,000 in seed funding through a new program sponsored by First Niagara Bank.

The medical campus is taking applications for the Seed Capital Accelerator Program, which offers grants or loans to new and existing start-ups with ties to the campus’ Innovation Center or its entrepreneurship programs.

Start-ups can use the money to buy equipment or other capital goods, for certain operating expenses or business training or for part of the salary of a new hire.

Medical campus officials expect up to a dozen start-ups initially will receive money through the program, which is funded for at least one year. The first awards could be issued as soon as September.

For more details on program requirements, contact Vic Nole, the medical campus’ director of new business development, at vnole@bnmc.org, or visit www.bnmc.org/seedcapital.
