Ortt wins two minor party nominations

NORTH TONAWANDA – The state Conservative and Independence parties awarded their ballot lines for 62nd District state senator to North Tonawanda Mayor Robert G. Ortt Wednesday.

Ortt entered the race as the endorsed Republican candidate after incumbent George D. Maziarz dropped out. Ortt is facing Gia A. Arnold of Orleans County in a GOP primary, but the minor-party lines assure Ortt of a place on the November ballot regardless of the primary outcome.

Earlier this week, Ortt attended the Orleans County Fair to sign a pledge from the Shooters Committee on Political Education to work for the repeal of the SAFE Act, the gun-control law unpopular with many Republican voters. Arnold has made SAFE Act opposition one of the main tenets of her campaign.
