Robbery reported outside City Market in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A 42-year-old Falls man said he was robbed of both his bicycle and his backpack as he left the City Market at 10 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Ashland Avenue.

The victim said an unknown man, “who looked like Mr. T,” demanded that he hand over all his property. The victim told police he refused and the suspect started to fight with him, throwing him to the ground. The suspect then forcibly removed his black/gray Nike backpack from his shoulder, which contained his cell phone. The suspect also stole his red Schwinn bicycle, which was standing on the corner, and fled the scene.

Police found the bike 15 yards from the store and returned it to the victim.

The victim suffered cuts on the right knee and elbow, according to police.
