A 2-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was struck by a car around 9 p.m. Sunday at Genesee Street and Floss Avenue in an apparent hit-and-run accident, Buffalo police said this morning.

Xayeliz Alicea is being treated at Women and Children’s Hospital, police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said.

The vehicle that hit her was described as an older-style white Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows, police said.

The driver is described as a black male, possibly 25 to 35 years old.

An 11-year-old who lives on Floss Avenue, Maria Morales, witnessed the 2-year-old getting hit. “When she went back [across the street] to ask her father something, the car hit her.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Department’s Confidential TIP-CALL Line at (716) 847-2255.
