The New York State Bar Association presented its Root/Stimson Award to Buffalo attorney Thomas Beecher recently. The annual award, named for distinguished lawyers Elihu Root and Henry Stimson to honor their commitment to public service, honors an attorney for exemplary community service. Beecher, counsel at Philips Lytle, is chairman of Barrantys, a financial consulting firm.


Cenergy Marketing & Communications of East Aurora named Tom Reppicci head of business development and Sarah Meegan account manager. Most recently, Reppicci was with Octagon, a Los Angeles entertainment agency, for more than 10 years. Meegan was with HBO in New York City for the past eight years.


Paul C. Atkinson, president and chief executive officer of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Buffalo, was elected chairman of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. The NFCC, founded in 1951, is a national nonprofit credit counseling organization.

Company Connections

Joe Basil Chevrolet received the General Motors Dealer of the Year award for outstanding sales, service and customer satisfaction for the sixth time. Also, Basil Toyota received the President’s Award from Toyota USA for the sixth consecutive year. Less than 10 percent of Toyota dealers in the nation are recognized by the award.


Advanced Educational Products, Buffalo, was awarded a $3,137 federal contract for medical reference books STL Advanced Educational Products from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Heartland Network, Leavenworth, Kan.


A. Vaillancourt, Clarence, was awarded a $44,480 federal contract for pond dredging, water trough installation and fencing on the Finger Lakes National Forest from the U.S. Forest Service, Warren, Pa. Place of performance will be in Hector.


Customers and employees from Noco Express Stores recently donated a total of $12,213 to support the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and several other United Ways in the region. Throughout the month of May, donations of $1, $3 or $5 were collected at all 35 Noco Express stores through a paper T-shirt pin-up campaign.
