Hot, humid weather forecast for next two days

Hot, muggy conditions are forecast for today and Tuesday, with Tuesday expected to be one of the warmer days of the summer in Western New York.

Highs today are expected to be in the lower 80s, a few degrees above normal, according to David Thomas, a meteorologist with the Buffalo office of the National Weather Service. There may be an isolated shower south or east of the City of Buffalo.

Tuesday could be the warmest day of the week, with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching the upper 80s.

Thomas said warmer air is pushing northward from the Ohio Valley, bringing significant heat and humidity to the area.

“We haven’t had any extreme heat yet in the month of July,” he said. This summer, Buffalo has had five days when temperatures hit at least 86.

The heat won’t last long, though. A cold front will pass through the region on Wednesday, Thomas said, bringing some showers and thunderstorms and the potential for gusty winds and downpours.
