WILSON – A Wilson woman was shot with a Taser after she refused to get out of her vehicle following a lengthy chase early Saturday, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said.

Cheryl R. DeLange, 61, of Chestnut Street was spotted driving erratically on West Lake Road shortly before midnight, deputies said, but refused to pull over. DeLange led police on a chase along Ontario Street and Lake Road into Newfane before heading back toward Wilson, exceeding the speed limit by 25 mph, deputies said.

DeLange, deputies said. pulled into a parking lot off West Lake but gripped her steering wheel tightly, with her foot on the brake and refused to leave the vehicle, deputies said. When she let go of the wheel and reached for the shifter, she was shot with a Taser, deputies said.

DeLange was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to yield right of way, speeding, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, moving from a lane unsafely and passing a stop sign.
